Using Windows 7 with UAC on and logged on as an Administrator, setting either of the options to add FileSeek to the context menu for Windows File Explorer completes successfully, and the option appears in the right-click menu.

However, the next time the Settings dialog is brought up, the error message 'An error has occurred while reading the Context Menu settings. Requested registry access is not allowed.' pops up and the settings are cleared.

Assuming you are still logged in as Administrator (and by this I mean the local 'hidden' administrator account, not a user with administrative privileges) and UAC disabled, right?
I am I.

I haven't had a chance to use FileSeek with Win7 yet, but this is on my "todo" list. I have recently started testing all of my applications with Win7, but with a dozen applications to test I can't fix them all at once. :) The next release of FileSeek should have better compatibility, but I don't have a release date for it yet.

Thanks for the response.

I was under the impression that UAC under Vista and Win7 behaved similarly, so I thought the problem might also manifest on Vista machines.

In any case, it's by no means a showstopper.

Thanks again.

I have tested it in Vista and it works for me. I didn't think they changed UAC that much in Win7, this will definitely require more testing.

I'm having the same problem in v2.1.3, perhaps the fix was lost?

Thanks Moshe

Strange! It seems to be working fine here on Windows 7. Are you running FileSeek 2.1.3 in Windows 7 with UAC enabled?
