I'm doing a simple search through 20 Word documents. It starts to populate results, then program closes. It's happening on my desktop and laptop. I downloaded an older version for Windows 10 and the same thing happens.

Hi Owen. I apologize for the slow response due to work and vacation. That seems to be working! It shows at the top that it's version 6.7 but I also saw a prompt to get updated version 6.8.(?)...didn't note the last number. Should I update to 6.8? Thank you!!!

Hi Brad,

Thanks for confirming, it's likely an issue in 6.8. Can you update and reproduce the issue, and then check your Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application, and see if there's anything listed for FileSeek, or a ".Net Heap Corruption"?

Tried the download link for ifilter you provided to Brad.
That solved the crash problem.
App was crashing about every 5-10min.
Its been up at least 1 hour! NO PROBLEM!
I really like the app & am glad to not have to get rid of it.

Running: FileSeek 6.9 PRO
OS: Windows10 Pro, Version:22H2, Build:19045.3448

Thank You Owen 8)

Update: I was wrong.
Still crashes.

In the Advanced Settings, could you turn on "Logging: Disable Log Buffering" and then send me over a debug log? Here are the steps:

  • On the FileSeek Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L2: Log Detailed" and click Apply
  • Try your search and let it crash
  • Head to C:\Users\(YourUser)\AppData\Local\FileSeek, and send over the "FileSeek.log" file
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Hi Owen. I'm back. I updated to 6.9 and it's crashing again. I went back to 6.7 and it seems to be working.

We've released a new beta with some changes that might help here. Could everyone try it out and let me know if the issue persists?
