I really enjoy supporting your software and appreciate the hard work. I'd like to ask that you consider adding an option for saving a small index for chosen folders. Make it optional. I have thousands of code files to search and searching through .sql files seems to take a while, it would be awesome if some indexing options were available for people who use it for full text searches. Having the chance to have near instant results would be perfect!

I know its a big request, but maybe consider it for the future. I'll still be a fan no matter what :-)

Glad to hear you like FileSeek! I'll certainly add this to our feature request list, and if we're able to implement it in a future version, we'll be sure to let you know :)

Thanks!

Any news?

That'd be nice to have a feature to manage different indexes for different chosen folders.

FileLocator Pro (an alternative to FikeSeek) has a similar feature from v8.0 (Aug, 2016) (https://www.mythicsoft.com/filelocatorpro/history).

We've decided not to add indexing support to FileSeek, we want to keep it as a lightweight search app with no background processes.

Could you check FileLocator Pro? They have a nice solution without background indexing.

If we re-visit indexing in the future, we'll definitely check it out.

Thanks!

In short, FileLocator Pro allows users to create indexes only if they want. An index can be created for a folder with different options such file types, case sensitivity, file names, ... An index will not be updated until users force it to update. By this way, there is no background indexing and users totally take control of it.
