Hi! One question, I use Fileseek 2.1.3 but I don't have Adobe products installed, I use Foxit PDF Reader instead. Is there a way to perform searches within PDF files? Should I get the Adobe handler from somewhere? Can you provide it? Is it Foxit's problem?

Thank you

Looks like the FoxIt PDF iFilter is free but a separate download that requires registration. You can get it here: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/ifilter/register.php

As for the Adobe PDF iFilters are available at the links below, but they look like they might be older versions as the newer ones are just bundled with Acrobat.

Hope that helps!

I am using the FoxIt PDF iFilter for 64-bit. I am running Windows 7 64-bit. I found FoxIt after learning Adobe hasn't updated their iFilter for Windows 7 64-bit (I had used their iFilter when I was running Vista 64-bit).

Adobe PDF iFilter 9 for 64-bit:

Acrobat Blog regarding Adobe PDF iFilter 9 64-bit updates:

The FoxIt iFilter works OK. For some reason I have had to reinstall/repair the FoxIt iFilter installation every so often because FileSeek doesn't show it as a File Handler. I am not sure why and haven't taken the time to figure it out. I have had to reinstall/repair the FoxIt iFilter after I update FileSeek. However, I am also running Adobe Acrobat Professional 9 - and that gets updates every month and that may be causing the disconnection. Another issue I have experienced after FileSeek lists the FoxIt iFilter: The first PDF query search after opening FileSeek is very slow and FileSeek goes into a "Not Responding" kind of mode before displaying the results. The second search is much quicker.

Unfortunately we can't do anything about FileSeek slowing down during the first search. The iFilter is loaded when needed, so it would load when the first PDF is found and it needs to check inside it. After that it stays loaded.
