I just upgraded to FileSeek 5.0.1, and I use the program to do simple term searches inside Word documents. The upgraded version seems to no longer support searching terms with apostrophe, for example, "John's stapler." Fileseek would search "john stapler" but not "john's stapler." I've tried multiple search settings and still the same issue. Anyone has a solution to this?

Would you be able to attach a sample document that I can test with here?

Thanks!

Ok, I attached an example. If I want to search for "John's stapler" or "attorney's fee" , I would not get a result. I think it may have to do with the font. Somehow the apostrophe in FileSeek search box is not registering other apostrophes when the font in the file is different from the Fileseek font.

Thanks! Were you copy/pasting that text from somewhere? It looks like the apostrophes in the documents are actually a different character than the apostrophe that's typed using the key on the keyboard.

If I search the document you sent, I don't get any results, but if I manually delete and re-type the apostrophe, I get a match when searching.

Alternatively, you could copy the apostrophe from the document, and paste that into the FileSeek Query box, then search. It will find a match :)

You could do something like this to search for both as well:

"john's stapler" "john’s stapler"

Hope that helps!

That helps a lot! The apostrophe was typed using Times New Roman font in Microsoft Word, but the FileSeek Query Box seems to use a different font. Anyway, at least I know the font is the issue. The old version didn't differentiate between what font it was in. We might have to revert back to the old version of Fileseek in our office.

Do you remember which version you were on previously? I can give you a download link for it if you want to try it out.
