Hi there,

I love FileSeek and use it daily to find specific scenes within hundreds of earlier versions of a screenplay.
I was originally writing in Final Draft, and FileSeek could search inside *.fdx files without issues.

Months ago I had to switch to another screenwriting software, Fade In Pro.
FileSeek does not return any results when searching inside their proprietary format *.fadein.

I already spoke to the developer of Fade In, who told me that *.fadein files are essentially zip containers with text inside.

So I installed the ifilter Zip File Handler and followed the procedure to amend the Windows registry, but still no results.
Is there something else I should be trying?

It would be a life saver if there was a way to search inside *.fadein files.
Many thanks in advance,

Regards
Jeremy

Sorry for the late reply!

The ZIP iFilter will usually only search for zip files without doing some pretty advanced modifications to your registry. Even if you did those modifications, the iFilter will only search the file names in the ZIP file, not the file contents. Unfortunately I don't believe there's a ZIP iFilter that will actually extract the ZIP and search the contents.

A workaround that you could do for the time being would be to open the .fadein file you would like to search with a zip application, like WinRAR (https://www.rarlab.com/download.htm?) or 7Zip (https://www.7-zip.org/download.html), extract the XML document inside the file, then use FileSeek to search that.

I hope this helps!
