I am using your Program and I am mostly very satisfied with it. But I have some problems on searching. If I check to use handlers for saerching to get better results, than I have problems with some pdf, odt, doc files. In the sreenshot you will see, that some files are ok and some files not, even if they are maybe the same. What is the probleme here?

Thank you for your help.

I wrote today about my problems in FileSeek. After trying to install other FileHandlers, it saw, that it does not work. I decided to uninstall the file handlers and make another install of FileSeek. After that I had a new problem. Now the File Seek Programms crashes after a few minutes, even if I dont work with it.

Strange! Is it crashing while a search is running? If so, could you send me a screenshot of the search while it's running?

No, it is crashing after the search.

Ok, could you send over a debug log? Here are the steps:
  • On the Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "Logging: Important Only"
  • Restart FileSeek
  • Reproduce the crash and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Send us the FileSeek.log and DebugInfo.html files (can be found by clicking the Open Log button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Thanks!

Thanks! I don't see anything out of the ordinary in the log. Do you get an error message when it crashes?

Yes, I am getting a windows message, that the program is not working anymore and that is all.

it sounds like it could be an issue with the .NET Framework. Could you try saving and extracting the attached file to a temporary folder, and then move the extracted file to the C:\Program Files (x86)\FileSeek folder, overwriting the old one? That will force FileSeek to use .NET 4.x instead of 2.x.

Please let me know how that works out and we'll proceed from there.

Thanks!

Ok, strange! If you disable the "Process contents using file handlers" option on the Advanced tab, does it still crash after the search completes?

I've tried with and without the function. But now it is so, that the programe sometimes crashes, sometimes not. I can not say, when exactly.

We've just released FileSeek 4.0, and we've fixed up a few stability issues. Could you give it a try and let me know if it still crashes for you?

Thanks!

Keith,
thank you for the information. I've tried and it seems to work good. I will test it and if I have problems, tell you about them.
