We're very excited to announce that FileSeek 6.0.1 is now available for download! We've given FileSeek a great new look, added some performance upgrades and new features, and fixed some minor issues. We've also added realtime push syncing, meaning you no longer have to sync your profiles between computers manually!

FileSeek 6.0.1 Changes

• Search Profiles are now synced instantly using realtime push syncing between computers
• New Results Menu Items: Add All/Selected Results to Zip File
• When the "Paths" field is empty, FileSeek will now automatically search all of your hard drives
• Exclude files by RegEx now works correctly

FileSeek 5.1 Highlights

• Now targeting the .NET Framework 4.0, which will automatically install during setup if needed
• Added an option to rename files and folders (one result at a time)
• You can now drag and drop results into the search fields
• New command line parameter to start FileSeek in the system tray (-tray)
• Search criteria will change back to the way it was before clicking the 'Search in New Tab' button
• FileSeek will now only sync search profiles when starting from the command line if it needs to load a profile
• FileSeek can now extend a query through multiple lines of a file

1. First, make sure you have the appropriate file handlers installed for the file type you want to search. We have links to the file handlers for some common file types here: https://www.fileseek.ca/FAQ/#filehandlers
2. On the Search tab, enter the folder that you want to search in the "Path" text box. Type the file extensions you want to search in the "Include Files" text box (e.g. *.xlsx). Type the text you want to search for within the files, into the Query text box.

3. On the Advanced tab, disable all of the "Show files/folders..." options except for the "Show file names that match the 'include files' filter" option. Also make sure that the "Process file contents using File Handlers" option is enabled.

4. Click Search, and you should get the results you're looking for!

Please note: If you're deploying FileSeek via Active Directoy GPO, please read the MSI Installation section carefully, and as always, make sure to test it thoroughly before deploying it into production.

Note: The FileSeek installer requires administrative privileges in order to run successfully. If the installer is run using an account that doesn't have administrative privileges on the system, UAC will request the credentials for an administrative account on the system.

The following MSI properties are especially useful for deployments. Any of the properties below can be included in an MST (transform) file if deploying via Group Policy. If you create your own MST file, you must include the CUSTOM1="/VERYSILENT", and LAUNCHAFTER=0 properties for deploying the MSI through Group Policy Software Installation.
